Description / Expertise
An elliptical desk in walnut with inlays of lacewood, rosewood, ebony and nickel plating.
Home to London’s oldest public park (dating from 1606), Finsbury Circus is steeped in history and yet remains a dynamic centre of business today. It was the inspiration for this desk, which is characterised by references to Finsbury Circus, past and present. Secret drawers and recesses can be found throughout and lignum vitae handles, made in the shape of bowls, are a reference to the only bowling green to survive in the City of London. Six oval marquetry vignettes above the desk legs reflect other historical facts and anecdotes relating to this area.
