An edition of nine plus one.
Stringed Figure: Bowl was a result of Moore’s exploration of how one
form can be seen inside another, an essential part of his emerging
interest in the internal/external idea. Concern for depicting volume
in space, and the desire to open out form beyond the limitations
inherent in materials such as wood, stone or bronze, were the
driving forces that led Moore to the important innovation of using
strings during the 1930s.
