An important miniature of Augustus 1st. Viscount Keppel1725-1786, wearing flag officer's undress uniform. Set in the original gold frame with coronet surmount. Reynolds made six paintings of Keppel, this miniature was taken from one of these. Keppel had an impressive naval and political career reaching the rank of Rear Admiral and joining the Admiralty Board. He was also a member of the Privy Council.
