Description / Expertise

The tall cabriole legs and serpentine shaping (to the sides as well as the front) enhance the elegance of this commode.

Its beautifully matched figured veneers, framed with diagonal banding and edged with contrasting holly stringing, emphasize the English interest in fine woods as opposed to the French accent on inlay and ormolu mounts.

The neo-classical cast brass handles retain their original gilt lacquer, while the drawers have fine mahogany linings.
