Description / Expertise

Cary made three sizes of globes and these globes, being 21 inches in diameter, are the biggest and most impressive they made. The celestial globe is dated 1st March 1799 & the terrestrial globe has been brought up to date and is dated 1st March, 1812. The globes, in exceptional condition, are supported on matching mahogany stands having circular tapered and reeded legs terminating in brass castors, united by compasses (replaced). Both globes are signed and dated J. & W. Cary, 181 Strand, London.
