Description / ExpertiseThe bookcase Jappanned in scarlet with gilt chinoiseries of the finest quality, having a break pedimented cornice with dentil decoration, above two serpentine shaped bevelled mirrored doors (glass replaced) opening to reveal an interior for books with three adjustable shelves. The bureau section below fitted with a central mirrored door cupboard flanked by pilasters - with a secret pull-out device revealing a secret compartment, having drawers and pigeon holes either side. The four graduated drawers fitted with original finely chased gilt metal rococo handles all raised on boldly shaped ogee bracket feet. |
