Description / ExpertiseThis rare collector's cabinet is notable for being made entirely of cedar wood, a remarkable confirmation of the finest quality cabinetmaking. The two doors profusely inlaid with matching inlaid ovals, quartered with black and white tapered spears having tied ribbons above and inlaid acanthus decoration below, opening to reveal a finely fitted interior of two banks of eight cedar lined drawers flanking a central 'theatre', mirror-backed with a panelled checkerboard floor, arched at the top with two inlaid roundels. The stand with four square tapered legs linked by a shaped frieze beautifully inlaid with swags of huskings and bows, centred by an inlaid circular roundel. |
