Charity Gala Evening, 12 June 2008In support of the International Fundraising Committee of the British Red Cross
In 2008, the Charity Gala Evening, in support of the International Fundraising Committee of the British Red Cross, will take place on Thursday 12 June, the first public open night of the Fair. The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. They are part of a global voluntary network that is always ready to respond to natural disasters, conflicts and individual emergencies. They enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities. And when the crisis is over, the Red Cross help them to recover and move on with their lives. The Gala is evocatively themed La Vie En Rose and will start with a Private View and champagne reception, on the first public evening of the Fair from, 7pm to 9pm. Guests can stroll round the Fair and take in the magnificent array of antiques and works of art whilst having the opportunity of winning magnificent prizes in the Burlington Arcade Raffle or making silent bids on items donated by the Fair Exhibitors in the Treasure Hunt. The reception will be followed by Dinner and entertainment in the Ballroom from 9.00pm. The Gala Evening is always a spectacular event and in 2007, over £620,000 was raised for Coram, the UK's oldest children's charity. Each year many celebrities, keen to support the chosen charity, attend. In past years, celebrities have included Elizabeth Hurley, Cherie Blair, Liza Minnelli, Sir Bob Geldof, Elle Macpherson, Ivana Trump, Jemima Khan, Ruby Wax and David Furnish. Past Charity Gala beneficiaries have also included CLIC Sargent, the NSPCC and KIDS. The Gala Dinner is now sold out.To purchase tickets to the Gala Private View, please click here.
